Bella Vista means “beautiful views” in Italian.
Bella Vista SPA & MARINA, located on a hill in the Onomichi area of Hiroshima, is a resort that offers spectacular views of the many islands scattered in the Seto Inland Sea. Close to Shimanami Kaido which is known as a cycling or driving route, it is convenient for sightseeing in Tomonoura and Okayama, making it popular for those wanting to enjoy a leisurely trip of views as they change with the seasons.

The area is known for ship building, and the original Hotel Bella Vista opened in 1973 as a guest house to host long term guests involved in the shipping industry. As a guest house, emphasis was placed on providing the “very best from the heart”. Carrying on this tradition, Bella Vista SPA & MARINA opened in 2007 with the addition of guest rooms offering ocean views and a spa.

The outdoor terrace which stretches directly from the hotel reception provides an uninhibited view of the Seto Inland Sea. Designed by architect Hiroshi Nakamura, the center of the terrace is a stretch of water that seems to flow directly into the ocean. The changing sky is reflected in the water, creating a beautiful and mystical combination with the panoramic view of the Seto Inland Sea. In the evenings, guests can enjoy a relaxing moment by the fire in the lounge on either side of the terrace.

The ribbon chapel is also designed by Nakamura, representing the everlasting union of two lives coming together. The chapel received the Grand Prize in the 2014 JCD Design Award, the largest design award in Japan.

There are 45 spacious guest rooms in total, each measuring at least 50 square meters with views that take you away from the every day. All of the restaurants offer seasonal dishes using the very best of local ingredients from the ocean and the land. With the great selection of restaurants on the property, most guests prefer to stay on-site.

There is a private beach on a deserted island about 15 minutes away by boat called Bella Vista Beach where you can enjoy relaxing in a glamping tent set up by the staff, barbecue style lunch prepared by an expert chef, and drinks brought to your tent while you immerse yourself in luxury. Choose to relax with a book or try your hand at SUP or sea kayak.
