Bella Vista” located on a hill in Onomichi
Bella Vista (Bella Vista) means “beautiful view” in Italian.
As the name suggests, Bella Vista Spa & Marina, located on a hill in Ohiraki, Urasaki-cho, Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, is a spa resort on a hill near the coast where guests can enjoy beautiful views of the Seto Inland Sea with its large and small islands. It is also close to the Shimanami Kaido, a popular cycling and driving route, and it is said that many people stay here for a relaxing stay while enjoying the scenery that changes with the seasons and time, as a combined trip with sightseeing spots such as Tomonoura and Okayama.
Since the shipbuilding industry originally flourished in the area, the Hotel Bella Vista opened in 1973 as a guest house for long-term guests of shipbuilding companies, and has been providing hospitality to ship owners from Japan and abroad. As a guest house, the hotel has provided sophisticated services under the motto of “Do our best with all our hearts,” and in 2007, the hotel underwent a major renovation, including the addition of ocean-view rooms and a spa, while maintaining the spirit of hospitality. In 2007, the hotel underwent a major renovation and relaunched as the Bella Vista Spa & Resort, adding ocean-view rooms and a spa, while inheriting the same spirit of hospitality.
Outdoor deck overlooking the Seto Inland Sea
The outdoor deck, located straight ahead from the hotel reception area, offers a panoramic view of the Seto Inland Sea and is filled with a sense of freedom. Designed by architect Hiroshi Nakamura, the deck is centered on a water table that stretches straight out to sea. The panoramic view of the Seto Inland Sea and the sky, which changes with the passage of time, are reflected on the water table, creating a beautiful sight. At night, it is a wonderful experience to sit by the fire in the sunken lounges on either side and gaze at the starry sky while relaxing.
The “Ribbon Chapel” on the premises was also designed by Nakamura, and was awarded the grand prize of Japan’s largest design award “JCD Design Award” in 2014.
Bella Vista, where you can enjoy an “extraordinary” experience
There are 45 rooms in total. As a resort hotel, each room is over 50 square meters in size, allowing you to relax and enjoy an “extraordinary” experience with a view. The restaurants in the hotel all offer seasonal menus using local seasonal ingredients from the sea and mountains of the Seto Inland Sea, and there is a large variety of restaurants for the number of rooms, so it seems that many people enjoy eating in the hotel rather than going out to eat in the surrounding area.
Cruising to “Bella Vista Island” by Cruiser
The private beach, accessible only to hotel guests, is located on an uninhabited island about 15 minutes by cruiser. The day spent on this deserted island, called “Bella Vista Island Beach,” can be spent relaxing in a glamping tent prepared by the hotel staff, with lunch prepared BBQ style by the chef and drinks served by the hotel staff. Lunch is prepared BBQ style by the chef, and drinks are served by the hotel staff, so you can enjoy a luxurious atmosphere.
