Wagashi “Demachi-futaba”
Famous Mame-mochi (bean rice cake) from Demachi Futaba, a long-established shop that has been in business since 1897. Mame-mochi is so popular that people are always waiting in line. Carefully selected ingredients are used, including specially selected large, sweet beans from farmers in Hokkaido and new sticky rice from Shiga Prefecture. In addition, traditional production methods such as double pounding to make a fine dough and not touching the dough too much when forming are also used.
Mame-mochi is a round, pure white rice cake with large beans that stand out. When eaten, the gentle sweetness of the rice, the fragrance of the beans, and the refined sweetness of the red bean paste mix together in perfect balance, accented by a salty taste. One bite is so delicious that it will make you smile.
