”Tamanoyu” A Well Established Yufuin Hotel

”Tamanoyu”
A Well Established Yufuin Hotel

A hotel loved by famous authors

”Yufuin Tamanoyu” is one of three prime hotels in ”Yufuin,” an ”onsen” town where over four million tourists visit per year. There are only 18 guest rooms on their vast 10,000 ㎡ property. Cottages are interspersed in the wooded area where guests can enjoy the changing seasons and observe birds and insects in their natural environment. Everything from the wooden bathtubs with free flowing natural hot springs, to the Scandinavian beds made with unvarnished wood were carefully chosen to enable guests to thoroughly relax. Based on the philosophy of locally-grown and locally-consumed, the restaurant serves local fresh vegetables, Bungo beef, Toyo gamecock, sweet fish, and landlocked masu salmon, all of which are carefully cooked to enhance the original taste.
Tamanoyu is also famous for being a ”ryokan” loved by many famous authors, the likes of Hideo Kobayashi. He especially liked to visit in the spring, when he could enjoy the cherry blossoms. The cherry trees were especially chosen for the property by the third generation caretaker of cherry trees in Kyoto, Fujiemon Sano. A visit in spring must be quite beautiful.
