Gunma

The southern area of Gunma is on the edge of Kanto Plain and during the winter, strong winds called ”karakkaze of Joshu” blusters down on the area. During the Meiji era, poultry farming, silk manufacturing and textile industry thrived in this area enabling many women to hold jobs, leading to the term ”kakaa-denka”.
