Moment of relaxation

”Satoyu Mukashibanashi Yuzanso” is a ”ryokan” with Omi folktales as its theme. Omi has a long history and is even recorded in Kojiki being referred to as ”Chikatsu Awami” or ”Awaumi” . Places with a long history naturally have many folktales related to the region.
The lobby of ”Satoyu Mukashibanashi Yuzanso” is decorated with pictures of dragons and warriors and there are pictures depicting legendary stories hung by the corridor, which draws you to stop to look around.
”The Omi Legend Library” has a collection of old stories, historical recordings, cultural books on Shiga and animated films are also shown on occasion. Reading a folktale in front of an old-fashioned Japanese stove. This is a must experience during your trip outside your normal daily realm.

The folktale of Ogoto ”onsen”

There are two large public bath facilities, ”Benkei no Hikizurigane” for men and ”Tennyo no Mai” for women. The water is a simple alkalescent spring, and is effective for neuralgia and recovery from fatigue. In fact there is a story behind the natural spring ”Ogoto onsen”. A long time ago, there was a valley where a large snake with 8 heads lived, and there was a pond called the Nenbutsu Ike nearby. This pond was said to be effective for curing disease and people would come and throw coins in the pond and pray. This Nenbutsu Ike is said to be ”Ogoto onsen” itself.

Yuzanso’s commitment to food

The people who prepare the meals are very particular about using local produce. The inn is confident about their dishes that use local vegetables and rice, that are delivered by contract farmers.
”Satoyu Mukashibanashi Yuzanso” is an inn that has a close bond with Omi culture, and a place that serves fresh ”taste”.
