Questioning the present
Daisuke Shimizu grows rice under the company name, ”Hyakusyouya” (Rice farmer). Although phonetically it means ”rice farmer” in Japanese, the character used is different. He uses the character 匠, meaning ”master”. This is likely because Shimizu’s rice cannot be made unless you have the skills of a master.
Originally, Shimizu was an employee at a company for food iteWhile working, he began to question the Japan’s reliance on imported food.
As he dug further, he was shocked to learn of rice exposed to pesticides.
He became determined to succeed his father who was a part-time farmer.
Reaping blessing from Earth
From there, his days of trial and error began, to actualize both ”safety” and ”taste”. His determination for ”eco-friendly” agriculture started to grow.
He wished to do conduct agriculture that was gentle on the Earth as well, a wish born because he regards the harvest he reaps as blessings from earth.
His actions were recognized, and he is now designated a ”Eco-friendly Farmer” by Shiga prefecture.
His trial and error continues to this day. His rice must taste good as well as being safe. This can only be perfected by the ”匠 Master”.
