Hyogo faces the Sea of Japan in the north, in the south it faces the Seto Inland Sea, and continues via Awaji Island to the Pacific Ocean. The Chugoku Mountains lie in the center, and the northern part has the characteristics of the Sea of Japan coastal climate. The mountainous area and the southern region belong have the characteristics of the Seto Inland Sea climate, while Awaji Island has characteristics of the Pacific climate.
