Creator of ”Doraemon”

”Doraemon” is ”manga” that is hugely popular nationwide. One can safely say that everyone in Japan knows ”Doraemon”, and there are many people who are familiar with ”Doraemon” even abroad. Fujiko・F・Fujio Museum in Kawasaki-city displays the history and the works of its creator Fujiko・F・Fujio. He is one of the leaders in the field who have created great works such as ”Doraemon” and ”Perman.” He resided in Tama-ku, Kawasaki for years and published many ”manga”. The plans to build the museum was conceived by his wife, Masako, who wanted to repay the fans for their support for Fujimoto (Fujiko.F.Fujio’s real name). The cultural facility conveys the message and the world of Fujiko・F・Fujio’s works to people of all generations through original illustrations and various works.

Welcome to the world of Fujiko・F・Fujio.

You can feel the world of Fujiko・F・Fujio at the museum. In ”Fujiko・F・Fujio’s Study” the artist’s beloved desk and tools draw one’s attention. When you look up from the desk where so many ”manga” were created, you will see an open ceiling with books and Fujiko・F・Fujio’s collection in the 8.5 meter high bookshelves along the walls. ”Here, many of his ideas were born, and it symbolizes his view of the world”.
There is also a facility where you can enjoy animation. At ”F Theater” on the second floor, they show original short films that are not shown anywhere else. There are many other interesting features to the museum. For example, if you look closely at the bathroom signs, you will discover that men’s bathroom is ”Nobita” and women’s is ”Shizuka-chan”. You will also find ”Q-taro” on the elevator sign and ”Perman” on the grass. One step into the museum, and familiar characters welcome you.

”Doraemon” for every generation

Studying the timetable of Fujiko, ”I was born in 77, so that should be around here.” Nakata pointed to where it said, ”Eiga Doraemon : Nobita no Nippon-tanjo.”
”I stopped going to the movies in high school for some reason, but I remember seeing this movie at a movie theater.” Nakata commented. There comes a day when anyone outgrows ”Doraemon”, but each generation has its very own memorable ”Doraemon.” The very first ”anime” movie, ”Doraemon: Nobita’s Dinosaur” was released in 1980. Since then, it has long been adored by children. You can meet the characters that have been loved by all generations through original illustrations and other works at Fujiko・F・Fujio Museum. Not only children but adults can immerse in the world of Fujiko・F・Fujio. (Reserved tickets must be purchased for entry)
