”SAKE” that brings people together
”Daimon Brewery”

Popular weekend restaurant, ”Mukune-tei”

Katano is a town located in the northwest part of Osaka. On the east side of the town, you will see the Ikoma mountains ranging from north to south. At the foot of the these mountains, there is a ”sake” brewery that started its business in 1829 – Daimon Brewery. They make refreshing ”sake” with a touch of tartness, using fresh spring water from the mountains and rice grown in the fertile land of this region.
Their ”sake” products are quite popular, and so is their restaurant ”Mukune-tei” which opens only on weekends. They refurbished the old brewing storehouse which was built at the end of the Edo period, and turned it into a restaurant where guests can enjoy locally produced ”sake” and home cooked dishes in a Japanese style eatery.
Occasionally, ”rakugo” (traditional comic storytelling) and classic and jazz concerts are held here. All the services are provided by the staff working in the brewery. Their concept is to cherish the communication and relation between the makers and drinkers of ”sake”.

Reflecting the experience of foreign travel in the ”sake”

Yasutaka Daimon is the 6th owner and brew master. Starting from 1969, Yasutaka traveled off to many different countries for 5 years. From this experience, Yasutaka was inspired to tell the world the wonderful aspects of Japanese ”sake” and Japanese culture. So, he started and manages a website called ”eSake.com” in which he introduces Japanese ”sake” to the world.
Through Japanese ”sake”, people are connected, that eventually leads to Japan being connected with the rest of the world. Daimon Brewery strives to create a ”place” for such connections to be made.
